Who Are We?
Launched on September 1, 2008, Squamish Online is a local venture operated by members of the community.  It was founded by a local artist/musican whose experience working amongst local community groups, and growing disillusionment with the corporate monopolization of local media, led to the realization that the town could use a new local medium of its own that is specifically dedicated to sharing information about community and arts groups, as well as local political developments.  With her diploma in Television Broadcasting and Communications Media to guide her, Dana-Marie Battaglia began a journey to create this new inclusive portal for Squamish.

Alan Forsythe, founder of the original independent paper Sea to Sky News, was at her side to offer his extensive experience in covering news in the Sea to Sky Corridor.  His passion for journalism and desire to stay connected in this beautiful town and corridor he has called home for years, proved to be easy incentives.

Local poet/writer Mary Billy was the first columnist, with her short lived but much enjoyed column 'Ask the Elders'.  Soon after, Ross Tayler, a local professional life coach joined in to add a lifestyle and personal health component by sharing his advice and life experience.  Marissa Scheisser, local nutritionist then came on board to share her wealth of information and tips for living a healthy lifestyle in Squamish.  Along the way, involved community members started submitting information to be shared, and Squamish Online's list of 'community contributors' began to develop.

Squamish Online is excited to continue to add new contributors and increasingly grow as a community minded and spirited venture.  Looking forward, the benefits of flowing, open, inclusive communication in our community, and seeing where this labour of love will lead in the years to come, is consistently adding momentum to its initial inspiration.

Here is a list of our current community contributors, more will be added soon, pending the collection of information/logos.
