Emptiness PDF Print E-mail
You're Not Alone

In their pursuit of happiness, I often hear people say that they have followed their path in life, they have the career they always wanted, a loving family the ability to easily acquire all the things they want. Yet they quietly share that there also exists an emptiness within them. I wonder about the term empty, what does it really mean? Can you fill this emptiness? I don’t think so, I believe that is what we try to do in many forms, be it food, buying stuff, alcohol, the list goes on… the emptiness still remains. Perhaps, the emptiness is really more like a vacuum, a black hole and the more we stray from our life purpose and ignore what brings us joy and ignites our passion. The more intense the pull or vacuum becomes. Somewhat of a defense mechanism for the soul.

In the last 3 years as I have been building my Life Coaching practice the question that comes up the most is; "What is Life Coaching?" This can be a difficult question to answer because the answer will be different for everyone in relation to what they are wanting and needing to experience. The other thing is that it is not a tangible product that you can pick up and look at and experience and try on in a way that is safe for you. What I mean by that is that you can go to a clothing store and try something on in the privacy of a dressing room and nobody needs to know what that experience was for you.

Climate change hype distracts from real challenges

Despite the fact there is no consensus on anthropogenic climate change, that the science is far from settled and scientists are not unanimous on climate change most media report that that is exactly the case.

Will we drown in trash long before the water levels rise?  Garbage: the real man made threat to our planet.

Here is what IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) lead author and professor of atmospheric sciences John Christy had to say on the so-called consensus in the scientific community and the most recent IPCC report. “To say that 800 contributing authors and 2,000 reviewers reached a consensus on anything describes a situation that is not reality.” Or IPCC Third Assessment author, former MIT professor and respected scientist Richard Lindzen, “there is no consensus about climate trends and what causes them…I cannot stress this enough.” Or you could listen to the tens of thousands of scientists, researchers and others who have signed the Oregon Online Petition, the Leipzig Declaration and the Heidelberg Declaration.

But in the end you might decide what does it matter? The goal, whatever you believe to be true about climate change, is to reduce pollution and that is a good thing in anyone’s book. Unfortunately that’s not true, there have been serious proposals put forward, in the effort to combat man-made climate change, that a man-made solution is the only cure for the problem – namely to pump aerosol sulphates into the air to increase global dimming, this would be the stuff we’ve spent the last 40 years trying to get rid of.

When you read proposals like this, you realize how insane the hysteria over global warming has become. As many climatologists point out, the earth has been very hot and very cold in the past without the benefit of man’s influence and furthermore who’s to say the present climate is the correct climate?

Spring Time Resolutions PDF Print E-mail
A Healthier Me

Spring is the time when we clean up the yard, get the garden going, plant seeds and clean out the garage. It is also the time to clean up our diet, clean out our bodies and plant ideas and projects.
Traditionally New Year's is the time we set resolutions and new goals. Yet so many find it difficult to follow through with their New Year's resolutions. Whether it is to lose weight or quit smoking many find it difficult to stick to a new healthy regime . There is a logical reason for the failed New Year's resolution and it has nothing to do with will power, it's just not the right time!
In January the days are very short and dark, the weather is cold and our bodies are in hibernation mode. For those of us living in the cold winter season that is. During that time it is difficult to take on a cleansing diet of fresh fruits and vegetables and light cooling foods because our bodies need warmth. Light and cooling vegetables such as cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes and sweet peas are not in season here and are therefore not the ideal foods to be eating. In the middle of the winter seasonal vegetables in our area are the remaining stored root veggies such as potatoes, carrots, cabbage and onions. Along with those a typical winter diet consists of grains, meat and legumes. We crave those foods for a reason. Now that's not to say that we can't eat healthy during the winter. These are all very healthy foods and contribute to a healthy body and mind. It is just that we don't have to beat ourselves up for eating starchy foods and gaining a little extra weight.

With so many diets, food philosophies, nutritional science protocols, food plans, health books and nutrition programs telling you the best way to eat it is difficult to figure out just what to eat.  You can find conflicting information on pretty much any diet out there whether it's the high protein/low carb, vegetarian, vegan, raw, blood-type, elimination, fruitarian... The list goes on and on and every time you think you have found the best way to eat some new info comes out telling you it's wrong and here is something better.
